Frank Lopez, 74, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
Frank was born Nov. 26, 1939, in Amarillo to Jesus and Anna Lopez. He attended Amarillo High School and graduated in 1959. He played football and wrestled for the Sandies. As a young man, he played in the AMA-Rocks Band and was also a cook for Bob Lee at The Big Texan. Frank worked for Santa Fe and Burlington Railways for 35 years before retiring in 2000 as a car man. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus.
The apple of his eye was his great-granddaughter, Abigail Garcia. Frank enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a son, Mikall Branch-Lopez.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Lopez and Becky Lancaster, both of Amarillo; a son, Frankie Lopez of Ohio; a sister, Patricia Price of West Palm Beach, Fla., a brother, Felipe Lopez of Amarillo; 14 grandkids; 12 great-grandkids; and a good friend and caretaker, Randal Duran.
